Message from our Philanthropy Director

Hi everyone!

My name is Gabriela Pirtea and I am UF Kappa’s 2026 Philanthropy Director. I am very excited to be in this position as I am extremely passionate about mental health awareness and giving back to the community. In this position I organize and execute our chapter’s main philanthropy events, including Kappa Kickball in the Spring and Let’s Taco ‘Bout Mental Health in the Fall. I also plan service events where chapter members have the opportunity to directly give back to the community through putting together donations, which are then brought to different local organizations.

The Jed Foundation, our philanthropy, is a nonprofit organization focusing on mental health awareness and suicide prevention in teens and young adults. I am so proud to work with everyone in our chapter to fundraise for the Jed Foundation as mental health awareness means a lot to me personally. My goal in this role is to increase community involvement within our chapter, and lead all members in fundraising and involvement in our philanthropic efforts.

When I first joined Kappa, I joined because they supported a cause that I was passionate about, and I knew I would find a community of women who shared the same values as me. That is exactly what I found, as philanthropy and service are at the core of our chapter, and I could not be more grateful to now be in this role. It is so rare to be able to make an impact on such a large scale, and I am so excited to guide our chapter in these efforts and see all that this position will bring.

Sincerely,

Gabriela Pirtea
